Live official NWS planning

Best time to attend the World Dog Surfing Championships

Comparing the published event hours with the newest official National Weather Service forecast, visibility, wind and beach alerts. An NWS beach alert that directly affects surfing blocks any better weather window.

No better weather window is shown while the Beach Hazards Statement is active. This planner is not a promise that conditions are safe or that the competition will proceed. Follow NWS instructions, lifeguards, event organizers and local emergency officials.

Beach alert takes priority

No better weather window while the alert is active

At the latest update, the NWS Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through 5 PM PDT Saturday. It forecasts sneaker waves, strong rip currents and breaking waves up to 10 feet at some south- and southwest-facing beaches and break points. The NWS instruction is to remain out of the water, stay off jetties, piers and rocks, and never turn your back on the ocean.
