Overview
MyUSA.us provides weather forecasts, alerts, and radar using public data from the National Weather Service and NOAA, along with air quality and links to official state 511 traffic cameras. You do not need an account to use the site, and MyUSA.us does not sell personal information.
Information you choose to provide
When you search for weather, you may enter a city, ZIP code, or address. If you select “Use my current location,” your browser asks for permission before sharing approximate latitude and longitude with the site. Location permission is optional, and you can use a city or ZIP code instead.
Search terms and coordinates are used to return the requested forecast and radar view. MyUSA.us does not create a user profile from this information or store a personal location history in an account.
If you save a location or label it Home, Work, Family, or Vacation, the location, coordinates, and label are stored in your browser’s local storage on that device. They are not placed in a user account. If you separately enable background warnings, the selected alert locations are also stored with the browser-issued push address so warnings can be delivered while MyUSA is closed. You can remove saved locations from the weather page or clear them through your browser settings.
MyUSA Warning Watch notifications
If you enable MyUSA Warning Watch, your browser or installed web app asks for notification permission. MyUSA.us stores the browser-issued push address, the notification security keys supplied by the browser, and up to five enabled saved locations so selected National Weather Service warnings can be delivered while MyUSA is closed. The saved location record may include coordinates and a label such as Home, Work, Family, or Vacation. MyUSA does not require a name, email address, phone number, or user account for Warning Watch.
Warning Watch uses this information only to check whether a qualifying official warning affects an enabled location and to deliver new or meaningfully updated warnings. Recent warning identifiers are retained to prevent duplicate notifications and are periodically removed. MyUSA does not use Warning Watch information for advertising, sell it, or use it to create an advertising profile.
You can use “Delete Warning Watch data” in MyUSA to remove that device's push subscription, saved alert locations, and duplicate-prevention records from the MyUSA server. Locations stored locally on the device remain until you remove them separately. You can also disable notifications in your browser or device settings. An invalid or expired push address is disabled when the notification provider reports that it can no longer be used. Removing a saved location from the app removes it from the device's next Warning Watch update. This feature supplements—never replaces—Wireless Emergency Alerts, NOAA Weather Radio, and instructions from public authorities.
If you email MyUSA.us, your email address, message, and any information you include are used to review and respond to your request. Email is handled by our email service provider and may be retained as needed for communication, security, or recordkeeping. Please do not send highly sensitive information.
Information processed automatically
Like most websites, the hosting platform and service providers may process technical information such as an IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, timestamps, referring pages, security signals, and basic diagnostic logs. This information helps deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
To learn whether temporary weather action cards are useful, MyUSA.us keeps aggregate daily counts of card displays and the types of buttons clicked for 30 days. These measurement rows contain only the action-card identifier, event type, date, and total count. They do not contain a name, IP address, searched location, cookie identifier, user identifier, or device identifier.
On the public MyUSA.us domain, Google Analytics 4 measures aggregated page activity and site performance. It may process information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from network information, browser or device characteristics, referring pages, and interaction events. MyUSA.us does not send names, email addresses, street-address searches, saved locations, or other information intended to identify a person to Google Analytics. Analytics is disabled on the private MyUSA.us Next testing site.
Advertising
MyUSA.us is 100% ad-free. It does not display third-party advertising, sponsored placements, or personalized ads, and it does not load Google AdSense or advertising trackers.
Weather, mapping, traffic, and hosting providers
To provide the site, requests may be sent to the National Weather Service and NOAA for forecasts, alerts, observations, icons, and radar; the U.S. Census Bureau, OpenStreetMap, and Nominatim for address and location search or map tiles; EPA AirNow and Envirofacts for air-quality and UV information; official state 511 systems for traffic cameras; and the site’s hosting and security providers for page delivery. These requests may include the searched location or coordinates needed to return results. Those providers process information under their own privacy policies.
Cookies and consent
Cookies and similar technologies may be used for security, preferences, fraud prevention, and measurement. See the Cookie Policy for more information.
Your choices
- Decline or revoke location access in your browser settings.
- Remove saved locations from the weather page or local storage.
- Revoke notification permission in your browser or device settings.
- Delete or block cookies using your browser controls.
Data retention and security
MyUSA.us does not operate user accounts or a customer-profile database. Warning Watch retains the limited push subscription and enabled-location information needed to provide the feature until it is disabled, expires, or is removed through the service's maintenance process. Technical logs may be retained by hosting, security, or measurement providers according to their policies. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
MyUSA.us is a general-audience weather service and is not directed to children under 13. The site does not knowingly request personal information from children.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated when the site, its providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest version.
