Our role
MyUSA.us does not issue forecasts, watches, warnings, evacuation orders, or emergency instructions. We retrieve and present information from the agencies responsible for those products. We may simplify layout and explanatory wording, but we do not change the meaning or severity of an official alert.
Primary sources
Local forecasts, observations, watches, warnings, and alerts primarily come from NOAA and the National Weather Service. Hurricane information comes from the National Hurricane Center; severe-weather outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center; air-quality information and guidance from EPA AirNow; river information from the National Water Prediction Service; earthquake information from the U.S. Geological Survey; and emergency-preparedness guidance from FEMA and Ready.gov. Important products include a link back to the responsible agency whenever practical.
Update and refresh practices
Forecast and alert data is requested from its source when a visitor opens or refreshes a weather page, subject to short caching that protects official services and keeps pages responsive. Source-issued timestamps are displayed when available. Different products update on different schedules, so MyUSA.us does not invent a universal publication time. After a temporary source failure, the site may show the most recent successful result with its update time and a direct official-source link.
Automated pages and search quality
Local pages are generated from verified location records and include a useful forecast snapshot in the initial page response. Unknown, incomplete, search-only, failed, expired, and duplicate routes are kept out of search results or removed from the sitemap. A page is not made indexable merely because a ZIP code or URL can be entered.
Automated guidance
Plain-language summaries, Healthy Weather suggestions, and verified trend action cards are practical explanations, not official warnings, medical advice, or substitutes for the underlying agency product. Trend cards are shown only on matching local pages, carry a verification time, and expire when their relevance window ends.
Corrections and outages
If information appears wrong, first use the linked official source for the latest safety-critical details. To report a display, location, attribution, accessibility, or factual error, email mail@myusa.us or use the Contact page. We investigate reproducible errors, correct our presentation when needed, and do not silently replace an official agency statement with an unsupported interpretation.

MyUSA.us is not affiliated with NOAA, the National Weather Service, or any other government agency. During dangerous weather, follow Wireless Emergency Alerts, NOAA Weather Radio, local emergency management, evacuation orders, and public-safety instructions. Call 911 for an emergency.
