Alert detailsAt 641 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Schroon, or 18 miles southwest of Port Henry, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Westport Village, Port Henry, Vergennes, Moriah, D A R State Park, Crown Point, Westport, Elizabethtown, Addison, Bridport, Panton, Ticonderoga, Essex, Kingsland Bay State Park, Ferrisburgh, Waltham, North Hudson and Ferrisburg.
Safety instructionsMonitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding.
