Alert detailsAt 453 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Many, or 25 miles southwest of Natchitoches, moving southwest at 10 mph. Another strong thunderstorm was located 10 miles east southeast of Florien, moving south at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Many, Florien, Fisher, Mount Carmel and Negreet.

Safety instructionsDrink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
